Peacock London, set inside the historic County Hall building on the South Bank, is one of them: a river-facing dining room that looks directly across the Thames to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, attached to a kitchen serving dishes from eight regions of China.
Why the view matters here
County Hall sits on a bend in the river directly opposite the Palace of Westminster, which means Peacock's window tables get an unobstructed, straight-on view of Big Ben rather than a distant glimpse. It's a view that reads well in daylight and better after dark, once Westminster is lit.
What to order
The kitchen's centrepiece is the Forbidden City duck — Peacock's take on Peking duck, carved and served three ways at the table — alongside a luxury dim sum menu served until 5pm that includes lobster cheung fun and truffle dumplings. The evening menu runs further into wagyu beef, Scottish scallops and Canadian crab.
